Communication professionals are often expected to help organisations align around strategy, navigate change and keep people moving in the same direction.
But many of the challenges that appear to be communication problems have nothing to do with communication itself.
Teams may receive exactly the same messages yet leave with different interpretations of priorities, ownership, dependencies, constraints or what success looks like. Communication can help create clarity, but it cannot create shared understanding on its own.
And yet communication professionals are often expected to do exactly that.
