Christine Breet

FCSCE

The Centre for Strategic Communication Excellence (CSCE) has recognised Christine Breet as a CSCE Fellow, acknowledging her leadership within the communication profession, her contribution to professional learning and practice, and her long-standing commitment to helping organisations and leaders navigate complex communication challenges.

With more than 30 years of international experience spanning 28 countries, Christine has built a reputation as a trusted advisor to leaders navigating organisational change, stakeholder complexity, and high-risk communication environments. Her work demonstrates the value of strategic communication as a leadership discipline that helps organisations maintain trust, make informed decisions, and navigate uncertainty with confidence.

CSCE co-founder Sia Papageorgiou FRSA, FCSCE, IABC Fellow, SCMP, shared:

“Many communication professionals talk about trust, leadership and strategic influence. Christine has spent more than three decades putting those principles into practice in some of the most challenging environments imaginable.

She has advised leaders through restructuring, labour disputes, organisational change and sensitive stakeholder issues where communication decisions affect real people and have lasting consequences. In situations where trust can be easily lost and difficult decisions cannot be avoided, she has consistently helped leaders communicate with clarity, integrity and respect.

Through mentoring, professional development, certification advocacy and her leadership within IABC, Christine has also helped strengthen capability and professional standards across our profession. Her career reflects the qualities CSCE Fellowship is designed to recognise and the example future communication leaders can aspire to follow.”

CSCE co-founder Adrian Cropley OAM, FRSA, FCSCE, IABC Fellow, SCMP, added:

“One of the true measures of professional excellence is not what you achieve for yourself, but what you leave behind for others. Throughout her career, Christine has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to developing communication professionals, advancing professional standards, and helping practitioners apply strategic communication to create real organisational and social value.

She has generously shared her expertise across industries, countries, and professional associations, always focused on building capability and strengthening the credibility of our profession. Christine’s influence can be seen not only in the work she has done but in the many professionals she has supported, mentored, and inspired along the way. Her contribution embodies the spirit of CSCE Fellowship.”

Christine currently serves as Vice Chair of the IABC Africa Board and previously chaired the association’s Professional Development and Certification Committee. Through these leadership roles, she has championed professional standards, certification, and continuous learning, helping communication professionals strengthen their capability and credibility in increasingly complex environments.

Her contribution to the profession extends beyond governance and leadership. Over many years, Christine has developed practical frameworks, methodologies, and training programs that help communication professionals apply strategic communication principles in real organisational settings. Her work spans strategic communication audits, stakeholder engagement, leadership communication, change communication, crisis communication, and communication evaluation.

Drawing on extensive experience across industries, countries, and cultures, she has shared her expertise through conference presentations, workshops, guest lecturing, and practitioner training programs. Her ability to bridge theory and practice has helped communication professionals move beyond tactical delivery and operate as trusted strategic advisors.

A defining characteristic of Christine’s career has been her ability to support organisations through some of their most challenging periods. She has advised leaders during restructuring processes, labour relations matters, organisational closures, and communitysensitive engagements where communication decisions directly affect trust, livelihoods, and organisational stability. Her approach consistently reflects a commitment to clarity, honesty, respect, and professional accountability.

In addition to her professional achievements, Christine actively supports the development of others through mentoring, coaching, training, and certification advocacy. Her investment in helping practitioners grow has strengthened capability across the profession and contributed to the development of future communication leaders.

Christine’s contribution has been recognised through numerous international and regional awards, including the IABC Rae Hamlin Award for values-based leadership and service to the profession, multiple Gold and Silver Quill Awards, the IABC Best of the Best International Award, and international facilitation awards.

This fellowship recognises Christine’s sustained contribution to advancing communication as a strategic leadership discipline and her commitment to developing communication professionals who lead with confidence, integrity, and purpose.
