Course Description:
To put participants in a position to integrate their organizations by understanding how internal influence works, and by actively closing gaps by making introductions between key people.
What to Expect:
- Explain the role of internal influence in organizations
- Drive an understanding of how internal influence works – and how a participant can tap into it, help steer it, and harness it both as a distribution approach and a listening resource
- Highlight the distinction between the four influence roles in organizations: Ambassadors, Advocates, Influencers, and Followers
- Give an overview of snowball analysis and organizational network analysis, such that participants can make educated choices about pursuing either approach
- Introduce Superconnection as an approach for connecting influencers and other key individuals in parts of the organization where connections are weak or missing.
- Spell out an actionable approach for making these connections
Course Outline:
- Introduction to informal communication – conversations within the business
- Identify and define internal influence as a critical factor in those conversations
- Understand the four influence roles and the distinctions between each
- Explore influencer identification approaches – Organizational Network Analysis and Snowball Analysis
- Review the advantages and disadvantages of each approach
- Examine why relying solely on managers and HR can be counterproductive
- Discuss the outputs of an influencer identification exercise
- Learn how to engage identified influencers effectively
- Develop practices for improving personal connection strategies
- Implement processes for integrating weakly connected parts of the organization through SuperConnection
