Hello,
I am wondering how other independent consultants or agencies price their services. Do you charge per hour, or do you factor your experience into your pricing as well?

What a great question,

This was probably one of the hardest issues to get my head around when I first went into consulting 20 years ago. It is not always looking at what people would pay, but what you are worth in terms of expertise and insight. I always found using a daily rate, limited people by budget (ie i can afford x days) and although you cannot avoid this approach on some jobs. The better approach is the outcome. What the client wants to achieve as an outcome and what you charge as a project cost to get that outcome for the client.

I will try and dig out a rate calculator I use to give a guideline on the basic hourly rate if that is helpful?
